Q2 2025 Feature Updates: Billing Address Editing, Custom Fields, and International Support

The quarter in review: We shipped three major features that directly address brand pain points: billing address editing in Customer Portal and Quick Mode, custom fields for complex workflows, and comprehensive shipping validation for 40 countries. These updates give brands more control over their post-purchase experience while reducing operational overhead.

The second quarter of 2025 marked a significant milestone for Cleverific. While most order editing solutions focus on basic modifications, we've been building something more strategic – tools that turn necessary order changes into revenue opportunities while giving brands unprecedented control over their post-purchase experience.

Billing address editing arrives in Customer Portal and Quick Mode

The problem brands told us about: Billing address changes were creating massive support ticket volumes, especially for subscription businesses, B2B brands, and any store dealing with corporate purchasing. When a customer's billing information changes, the entire payment flow can break, leading to failed renewals, declined transactions, and frustrated customers who can't easily fix the issue themselves.

Our solution: Billing address editing is now available in Customer Portal and Quick Mode. When customers update their billing address, the changes appear directly in Shopify Admin's Order Details page under "Updated billing address," maintaining full visibility for brand operations teams.

Why this matters for revenue: Every billing address change that customers can handle themselves eliminates a support ticket while preventing potential payment failures that could lose future sales. For subscription brands especially, this feature directly impacts retention rates and recurring revenue stability. See how billing address editing works in Cleverific

Custom fields unlock complex brand workflows

Enhanced customization capabilities now include custom presets, allowing brands to add structured data to orders more efficiently. This gives brands a streamlined way to capture structured data specific to their business needs.

Strategic implementation approach: Rather than building a one-size-fits-all solution, we focused on flexible field customization that adapts to unique brand workflows – from custom product specifications to complex B2B ordering requirements.

Real-world applications: Whether you're managing custom engravings, tracking special fulfillment requirements, or handling complex product configurations, custom fields ensure that order modifications maintain all the critical data your operations team needs.

International support through comprehensive shipping validation

40-country shipping validation represents our most significant international expansion to date. The completely redesigned shipping address validation system now covers major markets worldwide, with 14 new countries added specifically in Q2.

Technical excellence in address verification: Our new validation system doesn't just check if addresses exist – it verifies formatting standards, postal codes, and regional requirements specific to each country, reducing shipping delays and failed deliveries.

Business impact for international brands: Every correctly validated address prevents costly shipping failures, reduces customer service inquiries about delivery issues, and improves the overall international customer experience.

Advanced customer controls for brand flexibility

Tag-based product restrictions now allow brands to prevent customers from adding specific products to orders during self-service editing, or from editing certain products entirely via product tags. Learn how to control which products customers can edit. This addresses complex inventory scenarios, seasonal restrictions, and business rule requirements that vary by brand.

Flexible editing windows expanded to include a 2-hour option per brand request, giving businesses more granular control over when customers can modify their orders.

Contextual pricing support ensures that when customers add line items through Customer Portal, they see pricing that reflects their specific customer context – critical for brands with tiered pricing, wholesale accounts, or dynamic pricing strategies.

Free item controls let brands toggle whether customers can add free promotional items during self-service editing, preventing unintended promotional abuse while maintaining customer convenience.

Enhanced international experience

Multilingual improvements included corrections to French language translations and updated internationalization strings for Customer Portal's edit block mobile view.

Custom Portal multilocation inventory checking provides sophisticated inventory validation for brands operating multiple fulfillment locations.

Infrastructure advances supporting scale

Shopify API compliance ensures seamless integration as Shopify evolves their platform. We updated all code points to comply with Shopify's new read_location scope API changes and enhanced handling of third-party fulfillment orders in Advanced Mode.

Performance optimizations included updated shop lookup caching algorithms to improve editing processor performance, plus numerous backend infrastructure improvements throughout the quarter.

Advanced development tooling now supports testing prerelease features in staging environments, enabling faster and more reliable feature development cycles.

Quality improvements and bug fixes

Operational reliability improvements addressed edge cases in order editing workflows:

  • Fixed incorrect edit window options appearing in dropdown selects

  • Resolved shipping cost refund display issues in Shopify Admin

  • Corrected price calculation handling for free items

  • Enhanced order editing for orders without email addresses

Customer impact in numbers

Our Q2 updates delivered measurable business value for brands worldwide. The billing address editing feature alone addresses one of the top support ticket categories, while our expanded shipping validation prevents costly delivery failures across 40 countries.

Customer Portal has been incredible for us - we’re seeing 400-500 customer self-service edits per month that previously would have been support tickets. By letting customers update their addresses immediately, we’ve eliminated variables that could cause negative customer experiences and streamlined the entire process.

Looking ahead

Q2 2025 proved that the most valuable order editing features solve specific business problems while opening new opportunities. Billing address editing doesn't just reduce support tickets – it prevents revenue loss from payment failures. Custom fields don't just capture data – they enable complex business workflows that drive higher-value transactions.

The strategic advantage comes from understanding that post-purchase interactions are revenue opportunities, not just operational necessities. Every order modification represents a moment when customers are actively engaged with their purchase decision, creating natural touchpoints for additional value creation.

As we continue building toward our vision of comprehensive post-purchase revenue optimization, Q2's foundation of advanced customer controls and global capabilities positions brands to turn every order change into a strategic advantage.

The post-purchase journey is where customer relationships are truly built. We're excited to help brands make every touchpoint count.
