How to quickly change the shipping method on your Shopify orders

Sometimes, your customer needs an item quickly, and, at other times, they simply change their mind about the urgency.

With Cleverific, anytime your customer needs to change their shipping method, you can easily update their order or allow them to modify their shipping option without contacting your support team.

Here’s how to change the shipping method on Shopify orders faster and more accurately

To change the shipping method for your customer’s order, you can use Order Editor and choose the desired shipping method from the dropdown menu. Instead of manually entering a shipping amount using Shopify’s native order editing, you can select shipping rates that have been auto-populated by Cleverific and are readily available on your order details page. This will help you fulfill customer requests more accurately and speed up the shipping process.

 

💡 Use Quick Mode in Order Editor to change the shipping method of a customer's order without canceling it. This is a convenient option for merchants who want to make quick and easy changes.

On the other hand, if you have third-party integrations and prefer to cancel and create new orders for customer changes, you can use Advanced Mode in Order Editor. Advanced mode will allow you to change the shipping method by canceling the original order and automatically creating a "save as" order with the updated information.

 

Have your customers edit shipping options without contacting support

Alternatively, you can allow your customers to make their own shipping changes using Cleverifc’s Customer Portal. With customer self-service order editing, you can set limits on how long customers have to switch shipping before an order is fulfilled, or you can choose to not allow shipping changes at all. With Customer Portal, you can decide when and what changes a customer can make to their order.

If you currently use Customer Portal, allowing your customer to change shipping options is not automatically enabled. Please email our support team if you’d like to set this up for your store.

Should you allow your customers to make shipping changes after an order has been placed or do it for them?

We highly recommend you do both.

A good business strategy is to be available where your customers are. Some customers prefer to do things themselves online, while others prefer to speak to someone who can confidently assist them. The good news is that you only need to install one app to cater to both types of customers.
